Nets of Russian mobile operators survive strong solar flare

MOSCOW, Sep 7 (PRIME) -- Networks of Russian mobile operators have not been impaired by a gigantic solar flare, which occurred on Wednesday and has been the most powerful one over 12 years, spokespeople for the companies said on Thursday.

“Solar outbursts have had no impact on the work of MTS’ networks,” the operator’s press secretary Dmitry Solodovnikov said.

A MegaFon spokesperson said that the carrier’s network works in a normal mode.

“The Beeline network operates regularly; there are no troubles caused by the solar flare,” a spokesperson for VimpelCom, working under the Beeline brand, said.

Mass media reported earlier, referring to the center for space weather of the local institute of terrestrial magnetism, that the flare deteriorated quality of connections in the U.S. and Europe.
